Action Pack & Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement

I've been a long time Action Pack subscriber, but really only used the Office 365 & Azure benefits.  In late December, I activated the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement benefit using the provided Product Key, and started learning my way around it.  After a while, I felt confident enough with it to set up a new company for my own business and began migrating the data from my current accounts system to it.  However, in mid February, when I logged into the Dynamics portal at https://businesscentral.dynamics.com it displayed the message "Your trial period has expired. You can subscribe or extend the period to get more time.", with the options to Subscribe or Extend the trial.

When activating the Dynamics benefit, I followed the docs accurately, and as far as I am aware it was properly activated as a 5-User system, not a trial.  I've tried re-activating it using the Product Key, but it just tells me that the key has already been used.  I'd like to get it operational again as I want to start using it for my own business from the start of the new financial year in April.  I could extend the trial period, but that will only give me 30 days of additional use, and won't resolve the issue long-term.

I raised a ticket about this issue with MPN Support on 19th February, but so far I haven't had a response.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew

Hi James,

Thanks for the response, much appreciated.

I checked Power Apps and there was nothing there relating to Dynamics 365, so I poked around a bit and ended up in the Power Platform admin center, where I discovered that the default environment did not have a database attached.  Rather than mess with it, I created a new Sandbox environment with a database and on opening it I saw the Dynamics 365 Sales, Service, etc. apps were available.   I then added a database to the default environment, but couldn't see any way of adding the Dynamics 365 apps, so I guess there isn't much one can do with it.  I can play with the apps in the sandbox environment I created, I just need to find some decent documentation on it now.

I don't think I would have found this without your help, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Andrew.

You are attempting to log into Business Central  There are no user licenses of Business Central included in Action Pack or a competency entitlement (would be very happy to be proven wrong).

The Customer Engagement licenses you have applied are for CRM (Dynamics 365 for Sales (Hub) or Dynamics 365 for Customer Service, etc).  Look in the waffle for Power Apps and if you have set it up there will be a list of Power Apps to access your environment.

I hope this helps

James
