Help wanted: Firmware issues with latest Surface Pro 7,8,9 UEFI firmware?!
Hi, we are building a disk encryption solution, which is also implements an UEFI based pre-boot authentication application for smartcard access before the actual encrypted Windows might start up. We are facing more and more issues since some of the latest Surface Pro firmware updates (which will be rolled out automatically for our customers) that after such an update our software hangs whenever the smartcard access is being executed.
Good question now: Is there anyone from the firmware development reading posts, who might be able to help and identify which change has been made and why this is triggering such a problem in our software?! Sadly no rollback to old firmware version is possible so that our customers cannot get out of this issue at the moment.

@CSchulz : I think posting in the technical communities for Surface will increase chances of somebody from the product group reading the post:Surface Devices - Microsoft Community Hub
Also, this sounds more like a problem that should be handled by technical support - but to get some meaningful responses there it would need to be analyzed on your end how/where exactly the firmware behaves unexpectetly (where your software hangs). Unfortunately I'm not familiar with how to debug in this scenario and which support option would then be the right option, again posting in the tech community is probably the best option to get answers on this.

Hi Janosch,
in parallel to this request here I also used several other more technical ways on how to contact Microsoft and indeed I already received an answer from MS technical support, who are now in contact with the engineers. They requested more information like SNs, UEFI versions, etc. from those affected devices. Waiting now for more information and hope to get an answer. I will share the answer incase they found something interesting. Thanks!
