The Evolution of the Microsoft Partner Network

It marks a historic moment for the evolution of the Microsoft Partner Network as we introduce the next generation of our partner program - the Microsoft Partner Network by changing to become the Microsoft Cloud Partner Program.

The new approach will simplify our partner programs and closely align how we go to market, validate partner capabilities to deliver successful customer outcomes, and enable us to further invest in partner's growth and profitability.

In Australia and New Zealand, 62% of our customers look to Microsoft to help them find the right service provider. The announced changes will make it easier for customers to evaluate which partner can best service their business needs and will be focused on a partner's proficiency in six solution areas aligned to the Microsoft Cloud.

Replacing Silver and Gold partner status will be two new qualifying designations of Solutions Partner and Specialised / Expert. To attain the new solutions partner designation, partners will need to demonstrate their organisation's capability in performance, skilling, and customer success.

Below is a summary of the news.

  • Effective October 2022, Microsoft Partner Network will be renamed to Microsoft Cloud Partner Program & There are no changes impacting you prior to that date.
  • We are anchoring partner growth on six solutions areas aligned to the Microsoft Cloud.
  • We will move away from Silver and Gold competencies to new qualifying designations of Solution Partners and Specialised / Experts
  • To attain the new Solutions Partner designation, partners will need to demonstrate their organization’s capability in 1) performance 2) skilling, and 3) customer success (as measured by the partner capability score)
  • From March 17, you will be able to access a dashboard in Partner Center that shows how your business is tracking towards the new designations.
  • As part of these changes, we're not removing the benefits you receive as a partner today. In fact, partners who meet new designations will have access to additional benefits and investments.
