Dynamics 365 storage costs increase

Hi all,

In regards to the Dynamics 365 add storage going up to 40 dollars from 5 dollars per GB. Is this something that is definately going ahead in October?

It's a huge increase and I don't think our customer's will be able to afford it. We are migrating databases of 100s of GBs.

Any feedback - advice is appreciated.

This has now come back according to a US focused Dynamics Microsoft partner webinar I was on. The result will be huge increase in cost for our customers / prospects for database storage... none who need extra instances on top of the two already provided (which is the apparent benefit).

Yeah, I've just been on the UK call. Essentially massive increase in cost to database storage, good decrease in cost to file storage (email and note attachment), addition of separate log storage which will decrease overall storage.

We've got to do an impact assessment on our customers now, but I think most if not all of them should actually see a reduction in costs or no impact which is a relief! That being said, to customers where there will be an increase, I think it's going to be painful.

That's good to hear for you guys.

What is the call you were on by the way? It's not one i've got my my many partner and dynamics 365 call lists.

Thanks Louis, I’ve had the same news come through today.

Just some sensible changes and timing around Team Member now please.

next day or so via Partner source regarding licence updates

Thanks for this Louis, somewhat relieved! I still think that there are too many places for partners to gather critical information like this, and there needs to be a unified channel for us to gain this sort of information, be it via this platform, monthly partner calls or Partner Source. Currently, in my opinion, there are too many channels and if you're not keeping on top of everything, it's very easy to miss something!

Hi Sam.

I was too!

I'm not sure why the US partners get this before UK, as if it was going ahead it would be all systems change in only three weeks.

Be aware of the big changes to Team Members license changes too which are going ahead. There is a big Q and A document for partners. I've attached it for you. It is from August, so ignore the database changes i've just mentioned.

Thanks for this Louis,

Which channel did this get distributed through originally so I can keep an eye on that location?

Thanks,

Sam

Maybe they meant $4 not $40??

Visitor 1

It’s 100% $40. I’ve seen a partner-ready, non-confidential licensing Q&A. This also includes the major changes/restrictions to the Team Member license.
Level 2 Contributor

Yes Chris is right. Although this cannot be shared with customers / the market yet.

Level 4 Contributor

@RobertPope can you comment on this? While changes to Team Member licensing has been discussed on partner calls, I don't recall any mention of this in either of this month's partner calls (either the UK or EOC ones)?

Thanks,

I took a look at the preview CSP pricelist for October and I can see D365 Operations storage recommended selling price (Corporate) is £32 - that's compared to £3.80 on the September list.

Interestingly there is no entry for D365 Customer Engagement storage on the preview October pricelist.

Has there been any guidance from Microsoft that anyone has received to help partners explain to customers why their storage costs are going up 800%?

Visitor 1

It will all be classed as CDS additional storage, apparently.

One can hope - although they've made that print mistake twice if so. Additionally on the forums it's been confirmed by Mcirosoft representatives.

Level 2 Contributor

I’ve not heard about this and I don’t believe it was announced on the recent partner calls. Where did you hear this?
Level 2 Contributor

Hi Gavin. I've heard this through US partner channels. I believe it's also applicable to UK partners.

Visitor 1

I’ve heard exactly the same Louis. I’d hoped before anything formal was communicated they’d reviewed it internally. Like the D365 for Marketing pricing should have been before that mistake.
