Renewed Silver Partnership cannot extend O365 subscription
Hi,
we have renewed out Silver Partnership, I followed the instructions "a) To extend the end date or add more licenses to an existing subscription, click here" but when I validate the code I get the error message "Create a new subscription. This code won't work with your current subscription.".
Can anybody tell me why? I don't want to create a new subscription. I want everything as it is.
Thanks Alex

Hello,
Yes I had to do the same... I'm guessing it's because the old license is for Office 365 and the new license is for Microsoft 365.

In out case the solution was:
1. on partner portal wehere you can obtain the licence key, follow the link which says click here if you want to use your licence key THE FIRST TIME. It takes you to the o365 registration page, but there is a sign in button on the top right corner. Sign in with your account and there you can successfully enter your licence number. It will add an MS365 licence beside the O365 which will be vaild for a year. Then you have to assign the new licence to every user.

Thanks for posting this -- was having a slight panic attack! I wish the instructions from Microsoft just said what you said.

Ugh, was hopping this would work. I get to the point where I can enter the key and a message pops up the key is already used. Please purchase a new one!! My action pak subscription hasn't expired so the key should be valid. Very frustrating and I only have a few days to get this done!! So far no response from tech support.

Hi,
could not renew the existing licenses but had to use the code for new licenses. I think the reason is that it were O365 E3 but the new ones are M365 E3.
Next I added the new licenses to the users and removed the old ones.
Regards
Alex

Alexander, when you did your method did it preserve the existing mailboxes and such?
Thanks in advance,

Hi! You waited until expired date or you did it before the expiration date? I'm having the same issue and I cannot find where to add the code by itself for new subscription. Thanks!
