Partner Center Merge feature

One of the new Partner Center features is merging v-Org ID’s (including underlying MPN Locations) into another v-Org ID:

I would like to learn from other partner’s experiences with this feature. I am especially interested in merging a CSP Direct partner into another v-Org ID. Does it matter when the CSP tenant (partner.com) is the same as the working tenant (partner.com) of the partner?

We as Fellowmind are about to merge 7 other companies, would love to get some experiences from other partners,  better safe than sorry.

To your question on merging the CSP Partners org with another org - the merge feature will not change anything in the tenant setup. The only technical difference is that in each Partner Center in each tenant the whole (merged) MPN org. could now be managed. CSP customer management and services used for internal production would be unchanged.

Basically the merge feature will provide similar functionality as the PC Multi-Tenancy feature - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/multi-tenant-account.

So when now PartnerB.com tenant is used to manage PartnerA MPN Org, and PartnerB.com tenant is used to manage CSP customers and MPN Org. B, after the merge Partner Center in both PartnerA.com and PartnerB.com would allow to manage the merged MPN org., and PartnerB.com Partner Center would also have the CSP management option as before.

Kind regards,

Hello,

I left Microsoft France one year ago after 22 years as Partner PreSales (PTS = Partner Technology Strategist) and I'm now an independent worker. I was specialist in partnerships programs and tools and since I left I developed many contents. One of them is about tenants architectures, and most especially in the case of merge. For example, I'm currently accompanying some Global Partners and help them optimize their many tenants and entities.

I can share with you my offer named ''eCoaching Partner Center'': using Teams screen sharing, I can help on any part of Partner Center. One of the most requested part is about Incentives we will be able to finely understand and analyze using Power BI tools I developed.

Hi, we are not going to do anything with our tenants.

We are going to merge v-Org ID's and MPN locations.

Hi @JanoschUlmer , we have initiated the merge from Partner Center, how will the receiving end get notified? Email or message through Partner Center? How long will this take?

Microsoft

Afaik this should go the primary contact. However, I know at least one other partner which seemed to did not receive the invitation, if you still see nothing after several hours I'll advise to open a support ticket

Kind regards,

We have been helped by Microsoft Support (I indeed submitted a ticket).

The receiving end does not get a notification (they should but this does not work), but needs to visit to Account Settings -> Merge in Partner Center and there awaits a button to be pushed 😁

We finalized the merge, all looks good.
