Microsoft 365 Business Premium lic
We are going to get Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses for a non nonprofit organizations.
In the specs of the licenses they talking about Office desktop apps for office 2016! is this correct? I have assign a single license to a test user but he cannot download any office app and see this message:
Your admin has turned off office installs. Contact your admin for more information about how to get office in your organization.
Any idea what office version can we expect?
The Office apps edition you get is "Microsoft 365 Apps For Business" - see also https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/office-applications-service-description/office-applications-service-description , the versions you have access to are described here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-microsoft365-apps-by-date
And see here for enabling the download capability: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/manage-software-download-settings-office-365
What specs are you referring too? The desktop apps are not based on the Office 2016 long term/perpetual release channel since years now
@JanoschUlmer Thank you for your reply,
This is what I meant:
Also I check the Show all > Settings > Org settings > Services in O365 console and can see that is already checked for the Windows and mac.
Currently we have the E2 licenses for all of users but to run a test we get 5 licenses and add them to existing users and new test users but none can download the desktop apps!
This looks like a technical problem if the download is not available even though allowed via policy. Note when you change the policy or assign new license make sure the user account signs out and in again, otherwise claims might not be updated.
You can also use the ODT to download Office, doe snot need to be via the portal: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117
I have no idea, this is likely just due to the fact nobody has changed the description for longer time, interesting find though.
