Updating custom visuals in App Source vs. continuous delivery
Hi all,
What are your experience and best practice regarding updating Power BI custom visuals in app source?
In a modern world with continuous delivery this is like a minimum SLA;
1) Regularly - say every second week - being able to upgrade with a new version with new features
2) If an error/bug is discovered - very fast within hours, deliver a patch to the current visual version of the custom visual via app source
If this is not possible - are there any workarounds to be able to provide customers with an acceptable service level?
Best regards,
/Erik

No, I don't think there's anything you can do to speed it up or mitigate this risk - its's the same as mobile dev and the mobile app stores. You just have to make sure your releases are really high-quality...
You could give them a side-loaded patch if they were desperate and bypass the marketplace (well you can with the Power BI Template Apps anyway)

Hi Erik,
I would say that you have an obligation to your customers to fix bugs depending on their priority (dictated by a business impact).
However new features and enhancements - I would not put this in an SLA - you are improving the product by adding more business value- you do not want to be contractually obliged to do so. Instead it is a bonus for your customers to keep adding value (and something you will want to do).

Hi Rodney,
Thanx for your reply.
The question is not so much a legal question, but a question about how to get visuals updated very fast in AppSource.
Say that we have a critical bug in a visual, and it takes two weeks to get AppSource updated... hmm... not that good.
Any experience in how to manage this kind of process in an efficient way?
