Azure Marketplace managed apps for startups
Hoi,
We would like to test if managed apps is something we could use for our startup service.
Is their any way we can give this a try? (We are currently limited by not being a silver partner)
Thanks in advance,
What we want to do is manage resource groups in a customer tenants from our azure devops environment. Technically we only need an app registration in the customer tenant with contributor rights on resource group level. We are hoping with Azure marketplace we could arrange this setup with a single click by the customer.

Hi Mike,
There are two related offer types:
- Managed App - this deploys resources into a customer's Azure tenant but you maintain access for management, updates, and support. The customer pays for the Azure infrastructure to Microsoft and software cost to you. These are transactable through the commercial marketplace and certified based on the technology. Managed Apps do not require a competency.
- Managed Service - this deploys permissions into a customer's Azure tenant which you can then use to deploy resources and provide management, update, and support services using Azure Lighthouse functionality. The customer pays for the Azure infrastructure to Microsoft. These are not transactable through the commercial marketplace and do require a competency.
Are you trying to create the second offer type but getting stuck because you don't have a competency?
