Merging CSP/ MPN Tenancies/ Companies

Background: As a direct CSP we have recently acquired another direct CSP and naturally we want to consolidate all the subscriptions, people, accreditations etc..

Having gone through the process before from an MPN perspective and using the old Partner Membership tool to merge entities that was pretty easy. However, this functionality has been removed in Partner Centre and obviously didn't cover CSP.

I have also spoken to support and been told that CSP subscriptions can't be easily migrated and we manually need to migrate customers to new subscriptions in the parent companies entity.

I just wanted to ask it any other partners have been through a process of bringing in an acquired CSP partner into an existing tenancy? and is there any way to easily migrate subscriptions CSP >CSP? - any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Re: Merging CSP/ MPN Tenancies/ Companies

Reg. the migration - the general steps are:

From the CSP tenant that should be kept:

 - Send a new reseller relationship invite to the customers of the other CSP Partner entity and let them accept.

 - For O365/Dynamics: Provision the same number and type of licenses to the customers

 - For Azure: Start the subscription transfer process: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/switch-azure-subscriptions-to-a-different-partner

From the old, to-be-decommissioned CSP tenant:

 - For O365/Dynamics: Remove/Suspend subscriptions

Note: Licenses should be automatically reassigned, so no user should experience any issues. If license is not reassigned automatically - e.g. because the new license in above step is a different SKU you need to manually reassign licenses (within 90 days in order to avoid user's data will be deleted)

 - For Azure: Wait until Subscription is transferred

 - If all licenses/subscriptions are replaced/transferred, you can remove the reseller relationship for each customer

 - Final step would be to open a support ticket in Partner Center to ask to offboard this tenant from CSP Program and MPN

From Partner Center in the tenant that should be kept:

 - When the other tenant is offboarded from CSP, you can link the old tenant to the existing one - so users in the other company can access the MPN benefits again and attach their learning account for competency requirements: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4495700/partner-center-multi-tenancy-feature-consolidating-tenants

However, the right startegy for this also depends on how you want to connect the local AD, Azure AD  and account from both companies - e.g. migrating users between tenants, local AD consolidation etc. - this is abit outside of the CSP topics.
