License Transfer from one CSP Provider to Another

We have a customer with the old D365 Plan licenses purchased through another Direct CSP Partner that would like to transition those to us.   Is there documentation available (or can someone provide info) on the sequence of events that should happen to avoid loss of data or disruption to their environment?  Also, are there any foreseeable issues with going from Plan licenses to the a la carte licenses that we should be aware of?

Hi,

First thing to be aware of is that you as the new CSP Partner will not be able to provide the legacy Plan licenses.

So when you provide the licenses the customer will have to move to the a-la-carte model.

You should agree with the customer the new combination of base+attach, and any tenant licenses etc than need to be provisioned, based on the a-la-carte model.

Sequence is as follows:

  1. You onboard customer into your CSP
  2. You provision the new licenses
  3. You, or customer re-assigns licenses to their users
  4. Once confirmed all OK, old Partner suspends all the licenses from their CSP
