Exchange 2010 Email Archiving

I need to know the best practices to enable exchnge 2010 archiving . What are the best practices and recomandations.Archiving retention would be 3years.

How do i calculate expected expansion of storage in existing enviroment.

Executives have 21GB Mailbox size (Usable 12GB)

Operational Users have 5GB Mailbox size (usable 450MB)

Re: Exchange 2010 Email Archiving

Note that this community section is not for getting technical support or technical advice, it is for discussion support options and experiences. Technical help can be found on e.g. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/

That said - first you would probably want to upgrade from Exchange 2010 to a version that will not go out of support in ~50 days :-)

To your main question - the same way as you would calculate expansion of storage when archiving is not used - Exchange archiving options do not make copies of data, they either use tags or move messages to an archive mailbox.

Question is also what kind of archiving you want ot enable, there are multiple options: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/Exchange/policy-and-compliance/policy-and-compliance?view=exchserver-2016

Only if you enable journaling you will double the amount of storage you need and twice the IO load.
