With 36 academies across the United Kingdom, Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) is devoted to providing a twenty-first century education to its more than 17,000 pupils. As a nonprofit organization, any income received is invested back into the student experience. Like so many schools, when COVID-19 forced a switch to remote learning, GAT sprang into action to make sure that its pupils were safe and that their educational opportunities did not suffer. With a little distance, the GAT administrators have had a chance to move from the stress of finding immediate solutions to short-term problems to planning for the long term, based on lessons learned from their remote learning experience and taking advantage of Microsoft Education solutions.
"OneNote has enabled educators to provide access to lessons within the Class Notebook. Pupils see the simplicity and really love working that way. They ask, ‘So can we keep having our assignments and homework in OneNote? I don’t want to carry a planner anymore. Can we have it all virtual?’ So, pupils are kind of pushing the direction, which is nice."
