Empowering your business through gamification

Did you know that 90% of employees are more productive when they use gamification?

Gamification has the potential to modify our workplace. It's a mindset that can transform the way we work and change people's life. Adding gaming features to our routine can make it more interesting. Think about your favorite game. Why do you like it?  Is it the challenge, the pressure, or the feeling of achievement?

One of the goals of gamification is to empower each individual to achieve more.  Some people have their goals well defined, they know how to achieve them and that's clear to them. For others, it's not so clear, and it's no harm.  To help us understand better it is important to observe successful people and understand what drives them to achieve this success.  Mindset is one of the key points!

Let's look at the Michael Jordan case.

How did gamification get into his routine?  He had an insatiable desire to overcome himself. He had to be the best and do whatever it takes to get to the next level.  A real-life Super Mario game, in which the goal is to always move on to the next level.

What could we do to boost our business through gamification?

Gamification can have several forms, some companies implement in their employees, others in their customers.  Before implementing a strategy of gamification, it is important to make an introspection in the company

1. Identify your goals

2. Determine the required changes

3. Tailor the game elements to your strategy:

- Challenges

- Badges

- Levels

- Points and scores

Empowering your employees through gamification

Having motivated employees is crucial. It's not always an easy task. Implementing a good strategy of gamification in employees can transform the workplace environment, motivate, educate, optimize work strategies, and attract new employees.

Training, Course & Certification

The way many trainings are structured becomes a demotivating factor, creating a sense of obligation in the employee. Learning courses with gamification elements can be beneficial. Besides allowing to acquire the necessary knowledge, it offers a purpose and a feeling of conquest when acquired. The option of showing the certificate reached, gives the employee the possibility of receiving feedback and this is a stimulating factor.

Microsoft is an excellent example. It has a wide range of courses and trainings. Earning Azure, Dynamics, Office 635 Certificates becomes more exciting through in-depth training solutions that combine video, practical labs, and Microsoft Certification preparation to help you take your Microsoft technology skills to the next level.

The selection of the employee of the month/ year

Who doesn't like to see their work recognized? Creating competition in the workplace can also be healthy. Challenging employees, creating leaderboards and assigning points to achieve goals can be quite stimulating.

Rewarding the best is part of Microsoft's DNA. Every year Microsoft rewards the best subsidy, the best employees and the best partners. These awards encourage a winning spirit in all the teams involved.

Example on how to gamify remote worker engagement in Microsoft Teams

Incentives is a Teams Power Apps app template designed to incentivize and track participation in training and other adoption and change management initiatives. The app is based on a system of rewarding success and effort in the workplace by allowing employees to earn prizes or recognition once they complete nominated activities.

Core Scenario:

  • Employees participate in incentivized events or activities and then enter a unique code in the App, thus receiving points for each activity. The unique code is set when an activity is created by Admins and passed onto the participants on completion of the activity.
  • Employees can track their progress on the Leaderboard
  • Points can be redeemed for Rewards (Coffee, Food, Shopping, etc…)
  • The organization can then leverage the data to track and report on progress associated with employee participation

Driving results is a key factor for a successful business. Dynamics 365 - Gamification helps you to keep your employees engaged and motivated to deliver their best performance.

Everyone can participate in contests, regardless of their role in the company. Participants can win awards, prizes, and bragging rights, which are helpful external motivators to drive their impact on business results. When you make teams, you create healthy competition among colleagues and foster team spirit.

To help create a vibrant and engaging environment for your contest, use up-to-date scores and numbers. You can do this by using the connection with Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement (recommended) or with manual updates that use Excel, so everybody can see fresh data about how they are progressing in the game.
