SQL Server performs better in Azure with best TCO

Azure Data Partners

We can confidently say that SQL is more performant, less expensive, and more capable on Azure than AWS. In addition to the Azure Hybrid Benefit for Windows and SQL Server and the free 2008/R2 Azure VMs Extended Security Update offer described on the 5x website, our Product Team published a blog post citing a SQL IaaS GigaOm white paper that shows SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines running up to 3.4x faster and 87% less expensive than on AWS EC2.

For SQL PaaS workloads, see the recent JG blog post (which links to GigaOm SQL PaaS whitepaper).

Recent AWS/ZK Research claims were misleading because they were not an "apples-to-apples" comparison of VMs, and relied on an outdated TPC-C benchmark instead of the more current and representative TPC-E benchmark.

There’s no better time to show customers that Azure is the best destination for their SQL and WS migration and modernization projects
