Enroll in CPV program

Hello,

I finally decided to post here since I've been running around in circles so far attempting to enroll in the CPV program.

This page tells that we can enroll in the CPV program, unfortunately it doesn't explain how: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/enroll-as-cpv

So we raised a ticket with Microsoft Support, only to be redirected back to the page mentioned above. I digged through the entire partner portal, there seems to be no way to enroll in this program.

Can anyone help me with this, we really would like to move forward with developing an integration with the Partner Portal API, so we can allow TIER2 MSP to automate billing of CSP subscriptions they are managing for their customers.

Thanks
Martijn

Finally I found the public documentation - I can't tell why this is only documented here though: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/partner-security-requirements-faq#i-am-a-cpv-how-do-i-enroll

So it seems to me you need a Microsoft Sponsor, e.g. Account Manager to enroll as CPV

Kind regards,

I'd recommend that you each reach out to support (again) and if the engineer should really point back to the high level description you were referring to, you ask the engineer to look at internal support KB 4468809 and check with their manager if they can provide the enrollment link themselves that is in this article, or if an internal sponsor (Account manger, respectively "Partner Development Manager"/PDM) is required.

I do not know the process guidelines and will need to refer back to the support team to clarify this part. If you have contact to a PDM, you can also ask them to escalate the support ticket you have already opened internally referring to above information.

For onboarding as CPV indeed a Partner Center account and MPN ID is required . When this is set up you'll need an enrollment link which onboards you to the CPV program in the existing Partner Center account. This is similar to how you enroll as CSP Partner - also here you start with an existing MPN ID/Partner Center account, and via the CSP enrollment link you enable the CSP status in the existing Partner Center. For CPV we did not share the enrollment link publicly, unfortunately I can't say exactly why. I can imagine that there is a limit on the number of CPVs accepted, but this is why the support team should clarify this.

Kind regards,
Janosch

Hello Martijn,

We are running in to the same challenges as you where it comes to registering for the CPV program.

@Andra Can you help us out?

What we did so far

We registered as a Microsoft partner, and have an active MPNID.

I know we need to register our applications within the Azure portal, but is this the start of the CPV enrollment?

Thanks, Gerrie

Hi @VincentLT and @gbrokke ,

Thanks for mentioning me.

I see there are no steps listed.. and frankly, I am not aware of any additional guidance on Docs.

My guess is you need to start by enrolling in the CSP program : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-center/enrolling-in-the-csp-program

According to this link:

To create an account, a CPV partner can either use an existing CSP partner tenant, or existing CPV tenant or can create a new tenant as part of onboarding process. If the CPV partner chooses to use the existing CSP tenant, then they'll need to create separate multi-tenant applications and register them in Partner Center for CPV activities.

@idwilliams and @JanoschUlmer is this the right approach or is there any guidance on Control Panel Vendor enrollment, I might have missed?

Thanks,

Andra
