‘Grafting’ Love Island Data: Analysing the stories behind the TV Show

Amy Boyd

(Twitter: @AmyKateNicho)

Amy Boyd has analysed historical data from the past 3 years of the popular UK TV show "Love Island" and applied data science to find interesting patterns and correlations within the data. Her findings show the power of Data Analysis on a somewhat profane topic (TV entertainment). Amy has then also written a technical article explaining how I came to these conclusions using Azure and Power BI.
This popular UK TV show is currently airing and provides interesting insights as well as educates on the technical possibilities of Data Analysis. It also shows ways how to achieve these results with the help of data science tooling on Azure and data visualization services using Power BI.

Demo: Run a Kubernetes Cluster on Azure

Scott Coulton

(Twitter: @scottcoulton)

This repo contains the code to set up an AKS cluster with virtual node enabled and install Keda via CNAB with porter.
After installing prerequisites (Helm, Docker, and a few other tools), the repo uses a demo app that scales on a virtual node (Azure ACI) and uses CNAB and the Deislab CNAB porter implementation for automation.
This repo was first demo'd at KubeCon China 2019, where Patrick and Scott talk about three canonical abstraction that help developers structure their architecture: container, functions responding to events, and managed services.
They explain how to use these three components to develop (Docker, local Kubernetes, virtual KubeletOpenFaaS), deploy (managed Kubernetes, functions and services) and package (CNAB specification and tooling) applications - including "Day 2" concerns and things to consider.
